While Apple Final Cut Pro has become more and more popular, in many minds it still lacks features that professional broadcasters and others consider necessary.
Boris FX addresses that market with Boris Job Slate. This Final Cut Pro plug-in automatically creates commercial slates based on XML files received from the industry-standard Ad-ID advertising identification and management system.
While Boris FX has included text generators as part of its Final Cut Pro products for years, company president Boris Yamnitsky says that the new product builds on its vector text and XML technology to save production time and reduce operator error by eliminating the need for manual text entry with a standard text tool. Yamnitsky says that any user of the company's Title 3D or Title Crawl tools bundled with Final Cut Pro will instantly be familiar with Boris Job Slate's interface and tools.
Product features include the ability to import Ad-ID XML files and automatic parsing of the data; full customization of text style, text layout, font type, and font size; and custom backdrops, which enable use of pre-installed backgrounds or creation of custom image plates. Changes to the actual text are never saved, preserving data integrity and avoiding inadvertent changes to the imported Ad-ID information.
