VideoStudio Pro X2
Inexpensive, consumer-oriented software is becoming more powerful by the day. Corel offers a compelling reason to consider an all-in-one video-editing app with the recent launch of its VideoStudio Pro X2. It's just pretty handy to have a straightforward program that not only can import and edit HD, HDV, and AVCHD, but also handles photo editing, slideshow creation, burning Blu-ray Discs, and output to Apple iPod or iPhone, or Sony PSP. An easy-to-use DV-to-DVD Wizard allows you to create and output a DVD quickly, which could be a useful way to deal with the results of a day's shoot. The HD proxy-editing feature is a good alternative when you have to work with HD on a slower computer or laptop. Hooking up a camcorder brings up a useful capability: The app scans a DV tape for scene changes at 8X speed, presenting you with a scene list to choose from for later realtime capture.
