Tiled to sell

Aiming to put the price of its tiled active-matrix LCDs closer to plasma levels, Rainbow Displays announced a significant price drop for its Rainbow Spectrum 3750. At $7,495, the new price tag is quite a bit lower than comparable AM-LCD displays, which tend to cost about $10,000, according to Rainbow. There's still a lot of ground between the 37.5in. 3750 and a similar-sized plasma, but the company believes that the longer life associated with LCD screens will offset the cost difference. Composed of three smaller panels in a seamless design, the 3750 boasts a viewing angle of more than 160 degrees, luminance of 500cd/m2, and dark-room contrast of 500:1.
