To carry around a digital-projection system in your pocket is, well, like something out of science fiction. But in November, United Kingdom-based Optoma started to sell the first of a new type of projection device built around a miniaturized DLP chip set from Texas Instruments. About the size of a pack of cigarettes, the Pico pocket projector delivers 480×320-pixel resolution. While that might not sound too impressive, reviewers have remarked about how — in a darkened room — the image appears bright and crisp, with acceptable color values. The lightweight device, with some 90 minutes of battery life, allows you to project images and video from a variety of sources (iPhone, DSLRs, and DVD players).
