Designed specifically for video professionals with prices starting at just $4,595, IntelliRaid is the industry’s first – truly enterprise level storage at desktop prices. The 1st Design division has been created to focus exclusively on storage technology to be sold through a newly created video reseller channel.
This new storage concept offers intelligent controllers with a high level user interface combined with higher performance, flexibility and reliability making it ideal for video production facilities of all sizes.

About IntelliRaid:
Unlike other storage solutions currently in this market, setup, interrogation and error reporting of IntelliRaid are designed to be clear and easy to use. A totally turnkey solution, it is easily installed thanks to an easy to use Graphical User Interface and a built in LCD read out. In addition, trouble-shooting has been simplified as IntelliRaid sends clear messages and instructions in English rather that the usual confusion of switches, thumbwheels and undecipherable beeps.
To further simplify monitoring and trouble shooting, the IntelliRaid controller can automatically inform users and/or their IT department of important status changes by email. When notification is received, interested parties can interrogate the status of IntelliRaid remotely from any computer on the network or even remotely from off site locations.
IntelliRaid enterprise level reliability is achieved with new SATA2 disks with up to 1.2 million hours MTBF at 100% duty cycle, a cable-less backplane, dual power input and redundant hot-swappable power and fans. IntelliRaid also can be configured with ‘Hot Spares’. If there is a disk failure, the Hot Spare will immediately and automatically take over to replace the failed disk and thereby avoid any data loss. And for ease of maintenance all drives are hot-swappable.
Another key benefit of the IntelliRaid is its flexibility: IntelliRaid arrays are available in 5, 10 and 20 disk arrays. The entire IntelliRaid product line shares the same intelligent controller design which can be configured in Raid 0, 1, 1-0, 3 and 5. They also share intelligent enterprise level features never before seen in desktop units. For example, they can migrate from one Raid configuration to another without shutting down and unloading all data.
After reconfiguration, the location of data across the new Raid array will automatically be optimized. Moreover, IntelliRaid can be scaled-up in several dimensions, combined for increased size and performance and purchased partially populated so capacity can be added later. This again is done intelligently without having to unload and reload data.
A new level of performance is achieved through parallel disk control combined with programmable read ahead and write caching yielding consistent and high sustained data rate ideal for SD through HD video applications. For applications that do not require the fastest data rate, the controllers can be accessed separately as a completely redundant back up configuration or for maximum performance use two of these units to back up each other.
