Super Tuesday: The Sequel

Introduced last year, these daylong InfoComm Academy sessions were a clear hit, drawing more than 600 attendees to six sessions. This year, seven courses are available—six intermediate-level and one basic. Pre-registration is advised.

Tools, Tactics and Technologies for Presentation Professionals is designed for those involved in any facet of presentations, from creation to delivery. This course is divided into four modules: technology (those to watch and the tools essential to any presenter's toolkit); design (creative process, visual effectiveness, and case studies); coaching presenter clients; and the five steps of effective communication strategy development. Introduction to Collaborative Conferencing offers those who are new to collaborative conferencing an in-depth look this industry's technology and trends. Topics for this basic-level course include an industry overview, migrating from conferencing to collaboration, issues inherent in moving from ISDN to IP, and addressing collaboration in an AV environment. Technology Trends gives attendees a chance to brush up on the latest in control and connection, visual, audio, and conferencing before hitting the show floor. Project Management was last year's hot topic—more than 100 people attended last year's session. In this year's intermediate class, look for a focus on working with people, working with architects, and planning and time-management skills. AV/IT Converged: Technologies and Tactics for Success covers another hot and complex topic. This intermediate class focuses on the technical aspects of emerging AV/IT solutions with an emphasis on accommodating the technology within the scope of a sound business plan. At the end of the session, expect a panel discussion from end users, IT manufacturers, systems integrators, and consultants. Tools for Technology Managers is a handy session for technology managers and support professionals from universities, corporations, government offices, and houses of worship. Expect to learn what you need to navigate InfoComm's 700-exhibitor show floor and the questions to ask when you find what your looking for. Topics include enterprise asset management, determining ROI and total costs of ownership, and an overview of the AV/IT environment. Managing the Rental Market is an opportunity for rental managers and owners to examine the trends facing their industry. This intermediate-level session includes a comparison of software packages, marketing and sales management, and operations and subcontracting.

CEDIA @INFOCOMM

In collaboration with the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), ICIA directly addresses the needs of its professional AV members who are working in or are interested in developing opportunities in the growing residential market. That's about 25 percent of ICIA members, according to Melissa Taggart, ICIA vice president of education and workforce development.

"We are pleased to collaborate with CEDIA on this to bring their knowledge to members of the professional AV chain," notes Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., ICIA executive director. Nine seminars will be offered over the course of three days. Topics include data communications, design and documentation, project management, networking, DVR, and digital vs. analog issues specific to the residential systems environment. Those interested in residential systems can also check out the AVolution NextGen Home in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Fore!

Held at the Revere Golf Club, the eighth annual International Communications Industries Foundation (ICIF) Golf Tournament offers attendees a chance to relax, stretch their legs, cement established relationships, and build new ones, all while supporting the ICIF, a charitable organization dedicated to the support of the AV industry through education and research. Registration includes a continental breakfast, greens fees, cart-side beverage service, lunch in the clubhouse, and an awards ceremony.
