Hitting the Show Floor
May 31, 2005 2:10 PM
Think last year's record 625 exhibitors seemed impressive? This year, expect to see more than 700 exhibitors on the show floor, a growth reflective of InfoComm's evolution from a displayoriented event to a complete systems- and solutions-oriented one. That covers everything needed to design, assemble, install, and even use modern AV systems—audio, video, distribution, screens, racks, furniture, batteries, control, conferencing, test and measurement, streaming, lighting, and services. How much gear does that mean? About 10,000 of the latest established and emerging AV technologies.
But wandering the show floor could be a fruitless experience without a little context. InfoComm has that, too. Aside from the extensive educational offerings, InfoComm's Technology Pavilions, scattered throughout the show floor, offer a great, hands-on opportunity to see that technology in action. Further underscoring that emphasis on technology at work, there's also the InfoComm Command Center, AVolution NextGen Home, and Large Venue Display Gallery. You won't have any problem finding an application (or two, or three, or ) that fits perfectly with your niche in the AV industry.
Whether you're involved in pro AV as a dealer, integrator, VAR, content producer, or consultant, or you are a facility manager, technology manager, or end user (and there are more of you coming to InfoComm each year), this is the place to see it all. Conveniently packaged in more than 300,000 square feet, you'll find everything you'd expect, and quite a few things you didn't. So come early, come often, and wear comfortable shoes. You're sure to be busy.
Manufacturers Training
Eager to learn some more specifics about equipment you saw on the show floor? Although ICIA makes a concerted effort to keep the InfoComm Academy sessions nonpartisan, there is definite value inherent in getting specific application information directly from the source. Manufacturers Training sessions provide just that avenue via face-to-face, hands-on learning opportunities. Pay only $25 on a Manufacturers Training course, and get $25 back to spend at the InfoComm Show Store. (Note: You must attend the session for which you registered to receive the $25 gift certificate. No refunds apply.)
For information on specific course offerings, visit www.infocommshow.org and click on "Conference Search". From the "Tracks" dropdown menu in the course schedule, select "Manufacturer Training".
First Timers Orientation
New to InfoComm? With more than 700 exhibitors, stepping onto the show floor for the first time can be more than a little overwhelming. Consider attending the First-Timer's Orientation Tour, a convenient way to get your show legs underneath you. Sponsored by the ICIA Manufacturers' Council, this free tour presents an easily digestible overview of the show floor and its exhibitors, all before the crowds arrive. Be sure to register quickly. This event fills up fast.

AVolution NextGen Home
The latest and greatest in AV technology is not limited to commercial applications. On the contrary, technology that finds its way there sometimes starts in the residential sector. Of course, the converse is just as often true. Either way, the NextGen Home promises to showcase the cream of the crop in AV technology as it applies to the home. From the home theater to home office and all points in between, expect to see AV technology at its most aesthetic and ergonomic, delivered in a way to please the pickiest of clients: the home user.
Large Venue Display Gallery
The display technologies at work in large venues truly need to be seen in action to be fully appreciated—or compared. InfoComm is the only show in the world where you can see this technology at work, side by side. Whether you're involved with sports arenas, concerts, or other large-venue events, this is the place to see the leading display gear.
InfoComm Command Center
Curious how conferencing, streaming, security, digital signage, and other key AV technologies can all work effectively with one another under a state-of-the-art but easy-to-use control system? Want to learn more about media distribution? Located on the Central Concourse adjacent to the ICIA booth and Hall C1 Show floor entrance, the InfoComm Command Center is a unique exhibit—a command and control station and media distribution center connects to kiosks in the Technology Pavilions and the
