Digital cinema technology is driving growth in a diverse range of markets that extend well beyond Hollywood. The savvy AV pro must be prepared to take advantage. Enter Beyond the Cineplex, sponsored by Digital Cinema Report and ICIA. Hot topics to be addressed at the forum include corporate media, alternative content, electronic cinema, theme parks and museums, aquariums, and zoos. Presented by American Family Insurance's Media Production Team, the corporate media presentation details the company's move to HD technology, giving a case history of the transition and its results. Documentarian Kristen Cox presents an alternative content case study on the live production and distribution of several Christian concerts (pictured) and related documentaries. Matt Peterson of Scenic Wonders, in his presentation on market research, reports on data from two exclusive research projects conducted over the past two years and puts the data in perspective to illustrate the size of the non-theatrical digital cinema markets. The two presentations on theme parks and museums, aquariums, and zoos likewise offer detailed case studies of how digital cinema technology found its way into those markets.

"One of the key take-aways for me was the fact that limited knowledge of the projection supply is affecting forecasts and the ability of suppliers to invest in new capacity," McLaughlin says of the 2004 session. What will this year's hot-button issues be?
