Cinematographer Andrew Laszlo, ASC, to speak at Regent University

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, September 27- Andrew Laszlo, ASC, will offer practical insights into the real world of filmmaking during the Kodak Visiting Artists seminar. Laszlo will speak with students at Regents University on Friday, October 5, and Saturday, October 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Library Auditorium, 2nd floor.
Laszlo, one of Hollywood's top cinematographers, will walk the students through all aspects of a cinematographer's life including responsibilities, functions, duties, as well as a particular emphasis on the creation of the image. He will illustrate and discuss artistic and lighting techniques using examples from five of his films.
Laszlo is a member of the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). He is also a member of the Director's Guild of America, the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and has served two terms as a governor of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He received Emmy nominations for The Man Without a Country (1973) and Shogun (1980). Laszlo's credits include Star Trek V, Poltergeist II, The Owl and the Pussycat, and Class of '44. He has also worked exclusively in television commercials including advertisements for Sprint, Chevrolet, Budweiser, and American Express.
Presentations on new Kodak films are also part of the Visiting Artists seminar. "The Kodak Visiting Artists program is designed to enrich the educational experience of student filmmakers," says John Mason, manager of Kodak's Student Filmmaker Program. "The program is one way of giving something back to the industry's future generation of filmmakers."
