Cinematographer James O'Dea Loses Battle With Cancer

James O'Dea, a Michigan-based cinematographer known for his television commercial work with directors such as Larry August, James Gartner, and Chase Strickland, has died. O'Dea passed away recently after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
"Jim was a superb cinematographer who possessed a uniquely artistic eye and a great love of film," says Lisa Holguin of Dattner Dispoto and Associates, his agency for most of the past decade. "He's going to be fondly missed by the industry and everyone here at Dattner Dispoto."
O'Dea is survived by his wife Susan and sons, Tommy, a camera assistant, and Sean, a cinematographer who is also repped by Dattner Dispoto and Associates.
