AOL Time Warner Co-Chief Operating Officer Richard Parsons will deliver the keynote address at the April 8 opening ceremony of the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual convention in Las Vegas, while Internet pioneer Marc Andreessen, the co-founder and current chairman of Loudcloud, Inc., will keynote the NAB2002 New Media Professionals Conference.
In May, Parsons will become CEO of AOL Time Warner, succeeding Gerald Levin, who is retiring. Parsons currently oversees the company's content businesses-Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, Warner Music Group and the AOL Time Warner Book Group - as well as two key corporate functions: Legal and People Development. Parsons is a member of the AOL Time Warner Board of Directors. He became President of Time Warner Inc. in February 1995, and was a member of the Time Warner Board of Directors since January 1991.
As for Andreessen, prior to helping found Loudcloud in September 1999, he served as chief technology officer of America Online, Inc., where he guided its technological direction. As an undergraduate at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Andreessen created the first prototype of the Mosaic browser with a team of students and staff at the University’s National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
After graduating from college, Andreessen joined former Silicon Graphics Chairman Jim Clark to launch Netscape Communications. As chief technology officer and later executive vice president of products for Netscape, Andreessen was the driving force behind many strategic initiatives. Andreessen has been featured in magazines such as People, Time, BusinessWeek, and Forbes. He was the winner of InfoWeek’s 1995 Industry Achievement Award.
