4,000 Pre-Register for The New York DV Show
Feb 1, 2002 12:00 PM
Nearly 4,000 digital video professionals have pre-registered for The New York DV Show, already surpassing the organizer’s estimates. Pre-registration attendance is now expected to climb to 6,000 by the time the event takes place, February 10 to 14 in New York City. Conference organizers Mindshare Ventures and Future Media Concepts are attributing this pre-event buzz to the quality of the conference’s technical program, the line-up of industry professionals scheduled to make presentations and the powerful promotional support of industry leaders such as event partner B&H, as well as Gold Sponsors Avid, Sharp and Boris; and Silver Sponsors Discreet and Laird Technologies. The event is produced in cooperation with Adobe and Apple Final Cut Pro.
“Never before in New York City has there been such a large networking and information exchange for the digital video industry,” says Rick Friedman, president and co-founder of Mindshare Ventures. “We’ve tapped into this huge pent-up interest for professionals seeking current and objective ‘how-to’ information for FCP, After Effects, Avid Xpress DV and Discreet. And in addition to the education program, attendees are reacting to their ability to shop and buy products from 100 vendors right off the Expo floor.”
The conference significantly increased its reach and impact for attendees when it was announced recently that B&H, the world’s largest imaging equipment dealer, is offering its resources to help promote the event, and also adding a significant sales component to the show. Attendees will be able to view products on the Expo floor, and have their orders immediately fulfilled from B&H’s warehouse—right across the street.
The New York DV Show conference program is the industry’s largest with 170 sessions. It features 5 full-length conferences, each devoted to separate topics: Apple Final Cut Pro Users Conference, Adobe After Effects Users Conference, Avid Xpress DV Users Conference, Digital Video Conference and Discreet Fest. Technical sessions at The New York DV Show will cover a spectrum of topics including production techniques, editing power tips, special effects, cameras and decks, hardware peripherals, streaming, DVD authoring, 3D animation, audio editing and business issues. Included will be sessions on products from: Adobe, Apple, Avid, Discreet, Macromedia, Media100, Microsoft, Pinnacle, Sonic and Sony.
A full-scale exhibition will be presented at the Manhattan Center on Tuesday, February 12, 12:30 to 7:00pm and Wednesday, February 13, 12:00pm to 5:00pm. More than 100 exhibitors are expected to be on hand displaying their latest innovations in digital video hardware and software, offering attendees an advance look at some of the tools and formats they’ll be using in the near future.
