Nov 6, 2001 12:00 PM
Santa Clara, CA (November 5, 2001) - The Recordable DVD Council (RDVDC), a coalition of nearly 75 leading DVD technology developers and users, today announced that it will host a half-day ISV conference on November 11, the Sunday prior to Comdex. Offered without a fee to all system, software and solution developers as well as industry analysts and members of the press, the conference will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton, Ballroom D. DVD technology discussions will include all DVD Forum-approved recordable DVD formats--DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and will span the complete range of audio, video and PC-based applications.
During the afternoon event, executive members of the council will discuss in detail the current state of recordable DVD technologies, the resolution of drive/player compatibility issues, the state of copyright protection and the industry's international product verification program. Koo emphasized that since the meeting is open to all software and solution suppliers, companies and individuals wishing to attend should pre-register for the ISV Meeting because space will be limited.
Conference attendees will also be provided with information on the program the RDVDC has developed and funded to expand the recordable DVD market worldwide. Program plans include outreach activities at major trade shows such as Comdex and information exchange among council members, as well as business and consumer educational/ informational programs.
