MillimeterVDS Aquires Liberty Software Product Line from Chyron

MELVILLE, NY, August 6, 2001—Video Design Software (VDS) has acquired the assets and operations of the Liberty Software product line from Chyron Corporation (OTC BB: CYRO). The two companies have entered into a new strategic relationship whereby all sales, marketing, technical development and customer service/support of the Liberty Paint and Animation design software will be transferred to VDS.
Effective August 1, 2001, VDS will manage all aspects of the Liberty product line. In this capacity, VDS will continue the development of Liberty initiated by Chyron and expand development efforts to enable new features and plug-in applications for Liberty, as well as explore the product’s utilization in new markets. VDS will also provide Liberty customers with continued technical and operational support from its Melville and Toronto offices. To continue the line’s growth and sales efforts, VDS will begin working closely with Chyron’s direct sales force and domestic and international dealers, which are the primary sales channels for Liberty and will accelerate development efforts of the Liberty plug in application for the Chyron Lyric product. As part of the agreement, the complete Liberty engineering team, including Barry Hicks, Engineering Manager for Liberty Paint and Animation, will join VDS. Technical operations will continue to be based out of the current Cupertino, California office.

As a full-solution developer, VDS will also provide complete turnkey NT and IRIX based Liberty systems for customers in the broadcast, production and post-production markets.
