LOS ANGELES - The International Documentary Association (IDA) announced the nominees in the 20th Annual IDA Distinguished Documentary Achievement Awards competition. The winning nonfiction films and filmmakers will be feted at the IDA Awards Benefit Gala on December 10 at the Directors Guild of America Theatre in Hollywood.
"The nominees earned the admiration of their peers who were on our juries," says IDA President Richard Propper. "The juries reviewed hundreds of entries from every part of the world. They reported that there were many difficult decisions in narrowing the field down to these finalists, because there were so many exceptional entries dealing with the issues of our times. That in itself is heartening."
The four Distinguished Documentary Achievement Award categories are Feature, Short, Limited Series (series of episodes with specific continuing theme, topic or subject) and Continuing Series (three individual programs that best represent the series).
