Music Video Wire, the leading source for music video news, interviews and
educational content, will host a screening of some of today's most
innovative and controversial new music videos and a panel discussion
featuring top music video industry professionals as a benefit for the Music
Video Production Association (MVPA). The event will be held on Wednesday,
May 19th at 7:30 p.m. at the Eastman Kodak Building on Santa Monica Blvd. in
Los Angeles. The MVPA is a non-profit trade organization serving the music
video industry.
Hosted by Music Video Wire founder Will Brown the event will include a
screening of videos that have rarely or never before been publicly
displayed. They will include the work of today's most daring artists ranging
from underground Hip Hop stars Pitch Black to punk bands such as Black
Lips. Additionally, the screening will include nominees from two categories
of this year's MVPA awards, Best International Video, and Best Video Made for
less than $25,000 (the only time these videos can be seen together in their
entirety).
"The music video form is on the cutting edge of visual effects, storytelling, and innovative cinematography," says Brown. "With production values at a much higher level per minute than a feature film, music videos deserve to be showcased on a big screen like their more celebrated cousins. At Eastman Kodak, fans will be able to see videos at their very best. They will never want to watch them on TV again." The following panel discussion will feature leading music video directors, music video commissioners, and producers' and directors' representatives. Among those currently scheduled to appear are directors Brett Simon ("Polar Bear," "Thrice," "Fur Patrol") and Josh & Xander ("The Postal Service," "Death Cab for Cutie"), Geffen music video commissioner Nicole Ehrlich, ("Refused"), TV executive producer Cathy Pellow, producer Gina Leonard ("Kayne West," "Yellowcard"), @radical.media directors representative Jennifer Amerine. Additionally, representatives of Kodak and other leading manufacturing of film, video, and digital technology will present some of their latest products in the lobby before the event.
Tickets are on sale for $10 via the Music Video Wire website (www.mvwire.com) or may be purchased at the door for $12.
