LOS ANGELES---Fueling greater student participation at its 49th annual PROMAX&BDA Conference, which takes place June 23 through 25 at New York City's New York Hilton & Towers, PROMAX&BDA announced today that it will award scholarships in the form of complimentary student registrations to the first 350 qualified current or new design student members that apply. The announcement was made by Jim Chabin, Chief Executive Officer of PROMAX&BDA and Brett Ashy, Education Chair for the BDA Board of Governors. The Scholarship Program is a first for the organization and was developed by the newly formed BDA Education Committee.

"With the Conference being in New York for the first time in more than two decades, our organization has an opportunity to provide hundreds of scholarships representing $250,000 of registrations to deserving students who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend this invaluable event. This year's conference offers an exceptional roster of industry icons and media mavens from which the students will gain remarkable insight to the television industry and hopefully be inspired to join our ranks upon completion of their formal design training," said Chabin.

"This is the first of many valuable initiatives focused on exposing design students to both the creative and professional aspects of our industry. It is our goal to involve students in our organization early in their education and foster future generations of design talent," added Ashy.

The PROMAX&BDA association has already confirmed participation from award-winning MTV Senior Vice President On Air Design and Off Air Jeffrey Keyton; Oxygen Media Founder, Chairwoman and CEO Geraldine Laybourne; MSNBC News Anchor Brian Williams, the heir apparent to Tom Brokaw's NBC Nightly News anchor chair; cultural visionary Russell Simmons, Chairman and CEO of Rush Communications and Founder of Def Jam Recordings; noted author Dominick Dunne and The New York Times' esteemed advertising columnist, Stuart Elliott.

The Scholarship initiative was created by the newly formed BDA Education Committee and marks the first time in the organization's history that full-time design students are eligible to participate in the Conference free-of-charge.
