Oct 8, 2004 4:14 PM
Washington DC & Seattle, WA – Streambox Inc, The leader in video compression and video over IP solutions for TV Broadcasters and cable operators, announces the availability of StreamboxTV, a real-time professional quality, network error resistant streaming solution designed for government, education and enterprise customers wanting to stream video content reliably over wired and 802.X wireless networks.
“Today’s enterprises are increasingly utilizing the Internet and wireless networks to stream live video, and StreamboxTV offers a professional quality streaming solution for real-world networks,” said Bob Hildeman, Chairman and CEO of Streambox Inc. “We are pleased to offer a powerful real-time enterprise streaming solution that solves Internet and 802.X network packet loss while delivering the highest quality video at low data rates.”
The StreamboxTV media system utilizes the powerful ACT-L3 compression engine and integrated family of advanced forward error correction (FEC) technologies. The efficient ACT-L3 codec is a low data rate broadcast quality video compression engine utilized by many broadcasters and cable operators for television content distribution and contribution feeds. The Streambox family of advanced FEC is user adjustable and has the power to detect, cancel and recover from multiple random packet loss.
The StreamboxTV Media Player is a software-based decoder that runs on both PC and Macintosh® systems. The StreamboxTV Media Player is easy to deploy and use and can be customized to fit a customer’s real-time streaming requirements.
The StreamboxTV Encoder uses the Microsoft® Windows XP Embedded Operating System and is fully software upgradeable via a solid-state hard disk. This feature ensures ease of maintenance, upgradeability, reliability and fault tolerance. The ACT-L3 codec relies on Intel Pentium 4 processors with Hyperthreading technology to encode real-time video at 30fps with automatic closed-captioning support. Built-in Advanced Quality of Service (QoS) systems include remote management, Forward Error Correction (FEC) and error cancellation, burst error protection, bandwidth shaping, and automated self-healing signal reconnect and restart.
The Streambox ACT-L3 Codec is used in numerous real-time applications where broadcast and DVD quality video is required at low bitrates and low end-to-end video latency is mandatory. StreamboxTV applications include Enterprise TV, distance learning, Tele-medicine, and video communications.
