Ciprico has announced compatibility of several of its MediaVault storage arrays with the Apple Macintosh PCI Express (PCIe) architecture for the Power Mac G5 platform.

The MediaVault 4Gb Fibre Channel RAID array models 4110, 4105, and 4210, qualified in partnership with the ATTO Celerity FC44ES and FC42ES Quad and Dual Channel Fibre Channel Host Adapters on the new G5 running Final Cut Pro 5, provide data rates well in excess of the bandwidth required for recording and playing back uncompressed HD 10-bit 1080i content.

The 4210, combined with two channels on the ATTO Celerity host adapter, achieves read and write speeds in excess of 450MBps. The same array, configured with Apple’s PCIe 2Gb FC card, demonstrates its compatibility in achieving over 310MBps read or write speed performance. Likewise, the MediaVault SCSI U320R, RX and S models, combined with the ATTO ExpressPCI UL5D dual channel SCSI host adapter, delivers data rates greater than 310MBps in the same application.

“At Ciprico we’ve again proven our commitment to support the creative community by providing market-leading Fibre Channel and SCSI based storage solutions for the Power Mac G5 platform and its new PCI Express architecture,” states Mike Anderson, chief engineer at Ciprico.

“The MediaVault product line is relied upon by legions of creative professionals using Mac platforms in digital media around the world.
