Coinciding with Autodesk’s release of Discreet Flame for the Linux operating system, GenArts, a leading provider of digital visual effects plug-ins for the film, broadcast, and video industry, today announced the availability of Sapphire Plug-ins for Flame on Linux.

Sapphire version 3 for Linux includes the same familiar interface and wide range of effects and features that Autodesk users have long depended on, along with some substantial enhancements. The software has been specifically optimized for Intel and AMD hardware with two dual-core processors for faster user interaction and rendering. It includes support for 64-bit Linux operating systems which fully utilize large-memory systems enabling customers to use Sapphire on larger projects. Sapphire version 3 also supports Autodesk Burn rendering on 32-bit and 64-bit systems and is fully compatible with other Discreet systems on both Irix and Linux.

"Sapphire Plug-ins are impressively speedy on Flame/Linux, and of course they have the same great functionality and quality from GenArts we have come to depend on. This has helped make the overall experience of using Discreet systems on Linux even better than I expected!" says Wally Rodriguez, director of visual effects at Upstairs in Miami.

"Sapphire Plug-ins have long been enhancing the creative capabilities of Flame users. GenArts is again showing its dedication to the Autodesk/Discreet community by making these high quality tools available for Flame on Linux so promptly,” comments Bill Roberts, director of product management for Autodesk's Media & Entertainment Division.

Sapphire Plug-ins for Flame on Linux is available immediately for U.S. $10,000. The software can be downloaded from the GenArts website at www.genarts.com and can be purchased directly from GenArts, or from Autodesk’s extensive worldwide network of resellers and sales representatives.
