We go out of our way to be as inclusive as possible with our categories and nominees, since so often the work of sound and music editors is overlooked," stated MPSE president David J. Bondelevitch. (Bondelevitch is currently recuperating at home after three weeks in intensive care following surgery on an infected lung.)
The MPSE is also announcing their presenters for their two special awards. Legendary sound editor and mixer Walter Murch will present the Inaugural Filmmaker's Award to George Lucas, and Supervising Sound Editor Richard Hymns will present the Career Achievement Award to Gary Rydstrom.
