HPA Adds Two Industry Luminaries to Board

The Hollywood Post Alliance (HPA) announced it has added two distinguished members to its prominent board of directors. Esteemed entertainment industry publisher Robert Dowling and high-ranking Ascent Media executive Dustin Finer, have both joined the governing body of HPA.
The Hollywood Post Alliance serves the Southern California-based postproduction professional community through a variety of events and programs which provide information, education, advocacy, and opportunities for entertaining social interaction across all levels of the post industry. Heading this vital trade association and welcoming these two new members is HPA president, Leon Silverman, who states: "Bob will be a powerful voice and force for HPA and the post industry," and further comments, "Both Bob and Dustin will contribute to our organization and this industry through their knowledge in the areas of workforce development, training and other educational outreach, which we consider high-priority issues."
Editor in chief and publisher of The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Dowling, is considered by industry leaders and insiders as a discerning, reliable and un-biased source for the reporting of issues and activities in Hollywood, New York, Washington, D.C., and film capitals around the world. "After publishing The Hollywood Reporter for 17 years, I've developed a respect for the hard-working men and women who actually produce the entertainment products," Dowling states. "These talented professionals are forced to compete for work dailyit's the business they choose to doand they choose to do it here in Los Angeles. If organizations don't stand up for all of them, we will lose these great businesses and the talented peopleI believe HPA can have an impact on keeping that business here and I want to be a part of that process." Dowling also serves as executive vice president of VNU, the world's largest network of entertainment-related publications and services, which includes: Billboard, Musican, Music & Media, Adweek, Amusement Business, BackStage West, The Entertainment News Wire, and Broadcast Data Systems.
"With technology rapidly transforming every aspect of entertainment, media, and postproduction, I look forward to leading continuing education and outreach initiatives," states Dustin Finer, senior vice president Global Human Resources, Ascent Media Group. "These programs will be designed to motivate our workforce and build relevant skill sets perfectly tailored to take advantage of emerging digital and file-based production tools."
Finer is a member of the American Bar Association, California Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County, Beverly Hills Bar Associations and Society for Human Resource Management. Responsible for Human Resources across Ascent Media and its diverse global business segments, which include Creative Services, Media Management Services, and Network Services. He leads the culture and organizational development, employee development and training, employment communication, staffing and recruiting, compensation benefits, employee and labor relations, and human resource systems for approximately 4,000 employees around the world.
The HPA board of directors is governed and guided by Leon Silverman, president of LaserPacific Media Corporation.
