HypeFest 2005 Issues Call for Entries

Los Angeles--The unique film festival that links independent ideas with commercial creativity, HypeFest, has issued its call for entries for the event to be held in Hollywood, Calif., July 29 to 31, 2005. Now in its third year, HypeFest will once again showcase original short-subject works from filmmakers around the world.
The weekend-long event offers film screenings and nightly parties, complete with mixing and mingling opportunities. HypeFest also presents a screenplay competition, mentor sessions with industry experts, and concludes its festivities with an awards show and closing night bash.
Continuing its emphasis on promoting the filmmakers and projects in its annual event, HypeFest has recently held events and screenings in Los Angeles, New York, and Canada, and has three shorts featured in the December/January film issue of Paste Magazine. The HypeFest Year One compilation DVD is currently for sale.
"Over the last two years we have seen some of the most exciting and original short-subject work and we look forward to bringing more to an enthusiastic audience in year three," says Jessie Nagel, HypeFest co-director. "For two days we will come together to celebrate shorts, meet interesting creative people and drink cocktails. ... I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend."
"We look forward to welcoming a new group of talented filmmakers and commercial professionals to our festival," remarks Leigh Godfrey, HypeFest co-director. "Through our screenings and events, we hope to make HypeFest synonymous with viewing great short subject work, while also giving attendees and filmmakers a chance to make industry contacts and new friends."
HypeFest is accepting short films (25 minutes or less), commercials, music videos, and promos for competition screening. Entrants must send a completed, signed entry form with each submission, which is available online at www.hypefest.com. Only works completed in 2004 or 2005 are eligible for HypeFest 2005. Projects must be submitted for consideration on video (standard speed NTSC VHS) or DVD (Region 1 only).
Early Entry Fee: $35; Student (w/ID): $25. Early Submission Deadline: Feb. 11, 2005. Entry Fee: $45; Student (w/ID): $35. Submission Deadline: April 1, 2005.
