Steve Wright Leads Pixel Corps' Master Compositing Workshop

Pixel Corps, the global guild for aspiring and professional digital media artists, announced the availability of its Master Compositing workshop scheduled for July 13 and 14 at Pixel Corps’ headquarters in San Francisco. Taught by industry veteran Steve Wright, this two-day comprehensive workshop will cover everything from mastering matte extractions and despills to compositing operations. Pixel Corps will also be offering an introduction to Apple Shake class and a course on visual effects breakdowns for that same week for those wanting a broader compositing experience.
Participants have the option of taking the compositing courses independently or collectively, depending on the participant’s desires and needs. The schedule and topics for Pixel Corps’ upcoming classes are as follows:
Introduction to Shake (July 12)
Lead by Alex Lindsay, founder of Pixel Corps and Industrial Light and Magic veteran, this course is an intensive one-day course, providing participants with a solid introduction to Apple Shake 4. It specifically addresses the prerequisites for the Master Compositing course.
Master Compositing (July 13-14)
Come spend two full days with Steve Wright and learn powerful secrets of matte extraction, despill, and compositing operation—the foundations of every photo-realistic composite. Wright is the author of “Digital Compositing for Film and Video,” a senior compositor, and was the 2D technical director for Kodak’s award-winning Cinesite digital effects studio. His credits include over 70 television commercials, and he has over 50 feature film credits listed on IMDB.com.
VFX Breakdowns (July 15)
Join Pixel Corps’ Alex Lindsay as he breaks down a variety of visual effects shots in detail. From basic keying to Matchmoving and 3D, Lindsay will show and discuss the problems, solutions, and approaches to a variety of visual effect challenges.
