Tewksbury, MA--Avid Technology, Inc. today announced plans to support Panasonic's revolutionary AG-DVX100 24 frames-per-second (24p) mini-DV camera in future Avid products. This will enable a wide range of independent and professional filmmakers to seamlessly capture and edit high-sensitivity DV images at both standard 60-field-per-second interlace scan (NTSC) and 24p progressive scan.

"This is exciting news for Avid customers, especially independent filmmakers, who have been eager to use the AG-DVX100 on digital video projects," said Joe Bentivegna, vice president of video development and operations for Avid. "Panasonic broke new ground by introducing the world's first mini-DV 24p camcorder last year. With support for this camera in future Avid products, filmmakers everywhere will be able to get their hands on a powerful and affordable combination of tools that allow them to capture, edit, and output at 24p."

"Both Panasonic and Avid are known for developing revolutionary technologies that give professionals a creative and competitive advantage in the digital video marketplace," said Stuart English, vice president of Marketing, Panasonic Broadcast. "Adding Avid support to the AG-DVX100 gives filmmakers another distinct advantage. They can use Panasonic's leading-edge technology to capture digital video--with the look of shooting on film--and then edit their work with systems from Avid, the company that pioneered 24p editing more than 10 years ago."
