HDFEST is proud to announce its first annual world tour. The HDFEST 2002-2003 World Tour will take place in six cities: London, Paris, Toronto, Ottawa, New York, and Los Angeles.
The HDFEST 2002-2003 World Tour will present some of the best in new high-definition works from around the globe. All content will be screening in high-definition using high-definition projection; new advancements in technology also will be highlighted this year. The tour will commence late November 2002 in London, England and continue screenings and festival events on its world tour until its conclusion May 2003 in New York City.
The HDFEST 2002-2003 World Tour will allow festival audience members and participants in four different countries to experience exciting new accomplishments from high-definition filmmakers. Projects to be screened on the tour include feature-length dramas, short documentaries, short fictional dramas and comedies all created using exclusively high-definition technology. The official line-up for this year’s HDFEST events will be announced August 15, 2002.
This year HDFEST saw a dramatic increase in number of submissions. In addition, HDFEST’s international profile continues to grow as numerous high-definition entries have been received from Europe, Asia and Canada. HDFEST.com has received a tremendous amount of traffic with estimated number of hits totaling approximately 700,000, making it one of the most visited high-definition websites.
Since 2000, HDFEST has been bringing festival attendees a unique opportunity to view cinema created using high-definition technology. For many of these attendees, HDFEST was their first opportunity to view and experience high-definition. The festival has also screened television shows. Last year’s event held at The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles screened “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” as a HDFEST special presentation. HDFEST 2000 screened the television shows: “Gene Roddenberry’ s Earth: Final Conflict,” “Lexx,” and “The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne.”
HDFEST panels and seminars have included the directors, producers and technical crew from these productions and others. HDFEST’s current Advisory Board of Directors includes representatives from Avid, Disney, Tribune Entertainment, and The Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts, to name a few.
HDFEST is accepting high-definition submissions for the 2003 leg of the tour. The deadline for new entries is November 15, 2002. Venues and ticketing information for all tour events will be available shortly. Plans are already confirmed for the HDFEST 2004 World Tour: details will be announced early 2003.
