Pricing Action to Spur Media 100 Installed Base, Broader Professional Market, In Anticipation of Next Major Software Release Coming in January 2004

MARLBORO, MA--Media 100 Inc. (OTCBB: MDEA.OB), a leading provider of advanced media systems, announced it is lowering the price of its flagship 844/Xe real-time editing-compositing system by 56%, from $44,995 to $19,995; in addition, the Company announced it is lowering the price of its entry 844/Xi system 60%, from $24,995 to $9,995, and lowering the price of XBLUR, an advanced visual effects option for both 844/X configurations, up to 40%.

The bold price moves are designed to attract the Company's large installed base, numbering in the thousands, as well as other traditional editing systems users to move up to the award-winning system's advanced editing and real-time visual effects processing using unlimited layers.

"Our strategy is to put 844/X in the same price range where for ten years we have sold to tens of thousands of editing professionals," said Mike Savello, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Media 100.

New pricing summary:

  • 844/Xi: was $24,995; now $9,995 - a reduction of 60%

  • 844/Xe: was $44,995; now $19,995 - a reduction of 56%

  • XBLUR: was $7,995 or $9,995; now $5,995 - a reduction of 25-40%

"The unlimited-layer processing speed and 10-bit video quality of 844/X have been trailblazing from the start," Savello continued. "And consequently, many 844/X systems have sold to top broadcasters, post-production facilities, and large corporate and institutional media centers. We believe our new lower prices, along with our largest-ever software expansion coming in January, are going to motivate many more professional users to give up waiting and add 844/X to their creative arsenal."
