Industry Leaders to Present Hands-On Sessions on Digital Cinema, HDTV, Animation and Effects, and Streaming Media
WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - Mercer County Community College (MCCC) will host New Jersey's first Entertainment Technology Conference, Exploring the New Frontiers of Entertainment Technology (EnTech), from September 24-26, 2003. The conference will feature hands-on sessions on production technologies that are transforming the industry, presented by experts in such areas as digital cinema, animation, high definition TV, and webcasting.
"This is an opportunity for the people who create, produce, and use entertainment media to exchange ideas and learn the latest techniques in the field," said Steve Gorelick, Associate Director of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission.
Dr. Michael Glass, director of Statewide Training Programs for Mercer County Community College, said the conference is capitalizing on New Jersey's increasing involvement in the entertainment industry. "New Jersey has the sixth largest entertainment industry in the country," he said "This conference will be an exciting vehicle to promote the continued growth of an important industry in our state."
Featured speakers will include Barry Rebo, Emmy-winning co-founder of the first high definition video production company in the U.S., and Michael Uslan, Executive Producer of the series of "Batman" films. Rebo, a widely-recognized expert in digital imaging systems, has produced more than 150 high definition programs and commercials. Uslan won an Emmy Award in 1995 for the animated show "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?"
Other professionals working on the cutting edge of technology will lead breakout sessions at the conference. Pat Corbitt of Unreal Productions in Keyport, N.J., a 30-year veteran producer, director and animator, will present "a close-up look at some astounding 'movie magic.'" Lynn Colyer, director of broadcast production at Prudential Financial Inc. will discuss "how corporate AV units of the past are now full-fledged internal production companies."
"EnTech will give participants practical exposure to digital technologies in video production, cinema, television, animation and graphics," said Michael Tinker, digital cinema specialist at Sarnoff Corporation. "It will also offer insight into future directions in those fields."
Exploring the New Frontiers of Entertainment Technology is expected to attract filmmakers, animators, Internet webcasters, satellite TV providers, video game companies, and computer software companies. Entrepreneurs and investors in the entertainment industry are also invited.
Partnering with Mercer County Community College in offering the conference are the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission, Sarnoff Corporation, and the Mercer County Office of Economic Development.
The Conference Center at Mercer County Community College is located at 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor, N.J., on the Princeton-Trenton corridor. Registrations for the two-day conference are now being accepted. The cost is $295 ($99 for MCCC students).
