Gaumont will offer its next feature films in digital format to be available for theatres equipped with digital projection systems. “Gaumont is the first French producer and distributor to commit itself to make its films available for digital projections,” says Alain Remond, general manager of XDC France.
XDC positions itself as a logistics and services provider for producers and distributors who want to deliver digitally encoded films to cinemas. Up to now, XDC has deployed over 260 such installations in Europe.
“At XDC, we work each day to make digital cinema a concrete, reliable and advantageous offer for distributors and exhibitors. That is why we are so pleased that Gaumont has chosen XDC to encode its digital source masters, as well as encrypting and duplicating its digital copies,” says Bernard Collard, general manager of XDC International. “In addition to reducing the cost of the distribution support, XDC offers full logistical services to distributors from receiving of the master up to the projection of the movie, which is in optimal conditions,” he says.
The first Gaumont movies which will be prepared by XDC in digital format are: Le Lièvre de Vatanen; Pars Vite et Reviens Tard; Big City; La Faute à Fidel; Chrysalis, Trois Amis.
