EditShare 5.0
EditShare, a shared-storage system that was originally designed as an alternative to Unity for Avid users, is network-attached storage for almost all popular pro editing systems. Connecting via Gigabit Ethernet or higher, users can write simultaneously to the same volume. EditShare's rules-driven workflow ensures that no data is ever overwritten or accidentally destroyed. With version 5, non-Avid users get file-level access, while Avid editors get read-only access to other editors' bins. The new release includes new administration features and functions that allow EditShare administrators to synchronize two or more servers regardless of geographic location and receive daily “health” reports detailing server activity. A new plug-and-play configuration speeds a system's deployment.
