Bright idea
While disk storage capability continues its prodigious growth, throughput bandwidth increments increase at a slower rate. The standard FireWire interface, for example, tops out at 50MBps, which doesn’t make it ideal for system backup use.
Bright Systems has one solution with its recently introduced BrightDrive Interface-Transportable (BDI-TxP), a new high-speed, high-capacity server and portable drive system.
Delivering a claimed 300MBps, the technology was developed as a fast, secure method of moving full-length features between locations, according to Bright Systems’ CEO Antony Harris. Each BDI-TxP chassis can hold up to four 1.5TB transportable drive capsules, enabling users to ingest or offload up to about two full-length motion pictures at a time. www.4bright.com
