Incorporating web-based services is a trend manufacturers of broadcast gear are jumping on. At last year's IBC, longtime supplier Chyron introduced Axis. Axis is a one-stop platform to create, composite, and distribute graphic content over the Internet for traditional and new media markets; this includes non-broadcast clients such as newspapers, mobile phone, digital media producers, and anyone producing content for the Internet, according to the company. Gannett Broadcasting recently made a multiyear commitment to Axis web-based content-creation services so that the company can create, manage, share, and broadcast news graphics across all 23 of its TV stations.
