Taking Animation on the Road

For most animators, there are not many products designed specifically for working away from their workstations. Bauhaus Software says Mirage Nomad, a tablet PC-based animation and storyboarding system, provides a good solution for 2D artists. The product combines Motion Computing's Tablet PC with Mirage, Bauhaus Software's 2D animation system. Designed to handle anything from storyboards and pencil tests to fully colored final animation and special effects, the setup uses pressure-sensitive digitized pen input to support Mirage's realtime paint, animation, and special effects capabilities.

The clipboard-sized Mirage Nomad is based on the Motion LE1600 Tablet PC. It weighs in at 3.1lbs. and features a low-voltage Pentium M processor, 1GB of upgradeable RAM, a 30GB upgradeable hard drive (shock-mounted for enhanced durability), View Anywhere display, and WiFi connectivity. www.bauhaussoftware.com/nomad
